One of the tastiest pleasures of life in Spain is the tapas tradition: Madrid and other larger cities all  have the so called tapas zones – streets full of tabernas or tascas where you enjoy drinking, socializing  and eating standing up. Madrid might not have many typical dishes of its own (the best know is the cocido madrileño), but you can find traditional dishes from all over Spain along with sophisticated cuisine.
